Internship 2
Life skills program

Upper Merion Middle School

My second internship was not what I expected, as it was my first time working with students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and learning disabilities. I worked under three different mentors who taught me how to better support these students. During this time, I learned to recognize the unique learning styles of students with autism and those with learning disabilities, noticing how their needs differ. This experience helped me understand the difference between autism and learning disabilities. The internship made me realize I want to continue in this field. Although I encountered some unkind teachers, I am motivated to become a teacher who genuinely supports students and meets their needs.
